A dangerous and potentially record-breaking heatwave is impacting approximately 44 million Americans across the Rocky Mountains and northern plains, with temperatures expected to reach up to 43°C over the weekend. The National Weather Service forecasts extreme heat to continue across portions of the Intermountain West and Northern Great Plains. These hot, dry, and windy conditions are also elevating fire weather concerns across the western Great Basin, northeastern California, the northern Rockies, and much of the Inland Northwest.
