Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Central Minnesota, Effective Through Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for central Minnesota, including Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, Morrison, and Wright counties, effective until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. Heat index values are forecast to reach as high as 102 degrees Fahrenheit, with little overnight relief, posing a risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke due to the cumulative effect of prolonged heat. Residents are urged to drink plenty of fluids, limit outdoor time, stay in air-conditioned spaces, and check on vulnerable individuals.
