US Wildfire Activity Remains High with National Preparedness Level 4

The National Interagency Fire Center reports 158 new fires nationwide yesterday, with 49 large uncontained fires currently active. Over 17,500 personnel are assigned to incidents across the country. Fuels and Fire Behavior Advisories are in effect for the Pacific Northwest, Great Basin, and Rocky Mountain areas due to drought and low snowpack, leading to rapid fire growth. Notable active fires include Babylon (107,104 acres, Utah), Aspen Acres (99,529 acres, Colorado), and Cottonwood (97,458 acres, Utah).
