High Risk of Tropical Development in Northeastern Gulf of Mexico, Potential for Flooding and Rip Currents
AccuWeather hurricane experts are forecasting a high risk of tropical development in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico from July 18-20. If a tropical rainstorm forms, it is likely to move into the Florida Panhandle or Big Bend area, bringing a chance for flooding rains (1-4 inches, isolated up to 8 inches) and dangerous rip currents along the northeast Gulf coast. The National Hurricane Center also notes gradual development is possible for a disturbance in the eastern Gulf.
