Multiple Large Wildfires Active Across North-Central and Eastern Oregon, Threatening Communities

Multiple large wildfires, including the Hoag, Hopkins, Deadman Canyon, Cove Creek, Crosswhite, Brewer, Akawa Butte, and Pilot Fires, are actively burning across North-Central and Eastern Oregon. These fires are prompting evacuation orders and threatening residences and infrastructure in counties such as Gilliam, Wheeler, Wasco, Crook, Jefferson, and Umatilla. Containment remains limited for many incidents, with some exhibiting extreme fire behavior due to hot, dry weather, gusty winds, and dry vegetation. Firefighters are focused on protecting homes and strengthening containment lines.
