National Hurricane Center Monitoring Tropical Storm Elida in Eastern Pacific and Disturbance in Gulf of Mexico
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is issuing advisories for Tropical Storm Elida in the Eastern Pacific, with marine warnings in effect for the Caribbean/SW Atlantic and Eastern Pacific. Additionally, a broad surface low is forming over the eastern Gulf of Mexico, with a medium (40%) chance of tropical depression development over the next seven days. This system is expected to move slowly northward or north-northwestward, bringing heavy rain to portions of the Florida Gulf coast, southern Alabama, and southwestern Georgia. An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the system on Sunday.
