France Experiences Record Drought, Impacting Water Resources and Energy Production

France is currently facing its driest soil moisture levels on record for this time of year, surpassing previous severe drought periods. This prolonged drought has led to significantly reduced river flows and diminishing groundwater reserves across the country. The severe water scarcity and elevated water temperatures are also impacting critical infrastructure, including forcing the temporary shutdown of nuclear power plants to mitigate environmental damage.
