Japan Meteorological Agency Warns of Dangerous Heatwave and Heatstroke Risk Across Japan

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued warnings on Tuesday, July 21, for dangerously high temperatures across wide areas of Japan, from the Tohoku region in the northeast to Kyushu in the southwest. Heatstroke alerts have been issued for 42 of the country's 47 prefectures. Daytime highs are forecast to reach up to 40°C in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture, 39°C in Nagoya and Maebashi, and 38°C in Saitama and Kofu. The severe heat follows the end of the rainy season in the Kanto-Koshin and Tokai regions.
