Hurricane Fausto and Tropical Storm Genevieve Active in Eastern Pacific

Hurricane Fausto, with maximum sustained winds near 100 mph (155 km/h), continues its westward movement and is expected to enter the Central Pacific early Sunday. While no coastal watches or warnings are currently in effect, interests in the Hawaiian Islands are advised to monitor its progress, as swells generated by Fausto could cause life-threatening surf and rip tides in parts of Southern California. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Genevieve has formed in the Pacific, with maximum sustained winds of 60 knots (70 mph), and is forecast to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane by early next week.
