Hurricane Genevieve rapidly intensified over the weekend to a top-end Category 5 monster by late Sunday night, July 26, 2026. The powerful tropical cyclone, while not a direct threat to land, is sending significant tropical swell to Southern California mid to late week. As of Monday, July 27, 2026, at 8 AM MST, the hurricane had maximum sustained winds of 155 mph and was moving northwest at 13 mph.
