The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is issuing advisories for Hurricane Genevieve, a powerful Category 4 hurricane in the Eastern Pacific, and Hurricane Fausto, a Category 1 hurricane in the Central Pacific. Genevieve is moving northwest with maximum sustained winds near 155 mph (250 km/h), with some fluctuations in intensity expected today before steady weakening is forecast tonight through the remainder of the week. Fausto, located about 580 miles (935 km) east of Hilo, Hawaii, has maximum sustained winds near 80 mph (130 km/h), with gradual weakening forecast over the next several days. Significant surf is expected for the Hawaiian Islands over the next few days due to Fausto.
