France and Spain are bracing for a new heatwave starting Wednesday, with meteorological agencies warning that soaring temperatures could further complicate efforts to contain major wildfires. Météo-France expects temperatures in Paris to hit 38°C on Wednesday, and a yellow fire alert is imposed in Bordeaux with temperatures expected to rise to 40°C. Spain's national weather service Aemet also warned of 'extreme' fire risks due to intense heat and dryness. Wildfires in southwest France have already forced the evacuation of 220,000 people and destroyed 42,000 hectares of forest.
