Hurricane Genevieve Weakens to Category 3, Tropical Storm Fausto Nears Hawaii
Hurricane Genevieve, previously a Category 5, has weakened to a Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph (201 km/h) and is moving west-northwest, sending life-threatening swells and rip currents to Baja California and coastal southwestern Mexico. Tropical Storm Fausto, with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph (97 km/h), is expected to pass just north of the Hawaiian islands, bringing strong currents and dangerous surf conditions. Both systems are forecast to continue weakening.
