New Heatwave Intensifies Wildfire Risk Across France and Spain

France and Spain are bracing for a new heatwave, the fourth of the summer, with temperatures expected to reach 38-40°C in some areas, further complicating efforts to contain major wildfires. Météo-France forecasts temperatures topping 37°C in the southwest of France, with Paris potentially reaching 38°C. Spain's national weather service, Aemet, also warns of 'extreme' fire risks. Wildfires in southwest France have already destroyed 42,000 hectares of forest and forced 220,000 evacuations.
