Wildfires Rage Across Eastern Washington, Forcing 60,000 Evacuations and Destroying Hundreds of Structures

Wildfires in eastern Washington state, particularly around Spokane, have led to the evacuation of 60,000 people and destroyed at least 600 homes, businesses, and other structures. Approximately 1,000 square kilometers (386 square miles) have burned across the state, with some fires uncontained. Dry weather is expected to continue, posing ongoing challenges. The National Weather Service has also issued red flag fire warnings for parts of Utah and Montana, and extreme heat warnings for southern Arizona, California, and Nevada, exacerbating wildfire risks across the Western United States.
