Indonesia's BMKG warns of extreme weather from Tropical Cyclone 94W, heavy rain and high waves expected

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) has detected Tropical Cyclone 94W near the Philippine Sea, forecasting potential extreme weather including heavy rain and high waves in Indonesian waters from August 3 to 6, 2026. The cyclone is influencing national wind patterns, with speeds up to 28 knots, and is expected to create convergence zones leading to moderate to very heavy rainfall and increased risk of hydrometeorological disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. High waves of 2.5 to 4 meters are possible in the northern Malacca Strait and parts of the Indian Ocean.
