Extreme Heat Warnings Extended Across Southwest U.S. as Temperatures Soar to 120°F

An unrelenting heatwave continues to grip the Southwest United States, with Extreme Heat Warnings extended through at least Wednesday, August 5th, in parts of Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah. Temperatures are expected to reach between 109-116°F in Phoenix and potentially 118-120°F in Las Vegas, Yuma, and the Imperial Valley. Overnight lows in the upper 80s to low 90s will offer little relief. This extreme heat significantly increases the risk of wildfires and poses a high danger of heat illness, particularly for vulnerable populations and those active outdoors. Residents are advised to stay indoors, hydrated, and utilize cooling centers.
