Typhoon Dolphin Classified as "Violent," Causes Flight Cancellations and Evacuations in Southwestern Japan

Typhoon Dolphin, also known as Typhoon No. 13, is nearing the island chain between Kyushu and Okinawa Prefecture, bringing sustained winds of up to 144 km/h and gusts reaching 198 km/h. The Japan Meteorological Agency has classified it as a violent typhoon, its highest intensity classification. Over 500 flights have been cancelled, and evacuation orders were issued for nearly 260,000 residents in Kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures due to strong winds, heavy rain, and rough seas.
