Numerous Wildfires Threaten Structures and Infrastructure Across Northwest US; Helicopter Accident Claims Two Lives

The National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) reports numerous active wildfires across the Northwest Area (PL 5), including the Wrights Spring, Grasshopper, Old Trails, Autumn Lane, Hagen, Rowe Creek Complex, and Kaiser Canyon fires. These fires are exhibiting extreme to moderate fire behavior, threatening numerous structures and critical infrastructure, and have led to evacuations and closures. Tragically, a helicopter on contract with the US Forest Service was involved in an accident on the Widemouth 2 Fire in Utah on August 7, resulting in two fatalities.
