UK Met Office Considers Rare Red Alert as Heatwave Intensifies, Threatening Drought and Wildfires

The UK Met Office has issued a heatwave warning, with a rare Red Alert being considered as temperatures are projected to reach around 36°C in parts of England and Wales. The heat is expected to intensify from Tuesday and peak on Wednesday and Thursday. This fifth heatwave of the season is anticipated to worsen existing drought conditions and elevate the risk of wildfires due to the combination of extreme heat, dry vegetation, and low soil moisture.
