Potential Tropical Cyclone One-C Poses Threat to Hawaiian Islands with Heavy Rainfall and Flash Flooding
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has initiated advisories for Potential Tropical Cyclone One-C, located well east-southeast of the Hawaiian Islands. The disturbance is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm within the next day or so and approach the Hawaiian Islands by late Friday, August 14, 2026. Heavy rainfall associated with the system is forecast to begin impacting the Big Island on Friday, spreading westward to Maui on Saturday, and across Lanai, Molokai, Oahu, and Kauai on Sunday. This rainfall may produce life-threatening flash flooding.
