Multiple US States Under Heat Advisories and Extreme Heat Warnings with Heat Index Values Up to 112°F

The National Weather Service has issued various heat-related alerts across the central and eastern United States. Ohio County, Kentucky, is under a Heat Advisory until 8 PM on August 13, 2026, with heat index values around 105°F. Portions of central and eastern North Carolina, including Wake County, have a Heat Advisory until 8 PM on August 13, 2026, with heat index values up to 107°F. Extreme Heat Warnings are in effect for parts of central, east central, north central, and northeast Kansas (until 7 PM CDT Friday, August 14, 2026, with heat index values up to 112°F) and for the Kansas City/Pleasant Hill, MO area (until 8 PM CDT Friday, August 14, 2026, with heat index values up to 110°F). The Norman, Oklahoma area also has an Extreme Heat Warning until 7 PM on August 13, 2026, with air temperatures up to 110°F and increasing fire danger.
