Tropical Storm Lala Forms, Threatening Hawaii; Tropical Storm Hernan Drifts Westward in Eastern Pacific

Tropical Storm Lala has formed in the Central Pacific, with the Central Pacific Hurricane Center forecasting it to strengthen and pass near or just south of the Big Island of Hawaii by early Saturday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and dangerous surf. In the Eastern Pacific, Tropical Storm Hernan has also formed, located about 1,460 miles west of Baja California. Hernan has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is expected to drift southwestward and gradually weaken.
