Japan Meteorological Agency issues highest-level emergency warning for heavy rain and landslides in Chiba Prefecture

Torrential rain has caused severe flooding and landslide risks in eastern Japan, particularly Chiba Prefecture, leading to evacuation orders for over 100,000 households and power outages. One fatality has been reported in Ichikawa City. The JMA has warned that this rain event is unprecedented in intensity, with localized rainfall exceeding 100mm in an hour in some areas.
