Historic Flooding and Severe Storms Claim at Least Six Lives in Indiana; Flash Flood Warnings Remain

Historic flooding and severe storms have resulted in at least six fatalities across Indiana since August 11, with major White River flooding forcing evacuations and numerous water rescues. Flash flood warnings and watches persist across central Indiana, where some areas received over 28 cm (11 inches) of rain in two days. The National Weather Service described the flooding in parts of central Indiana as catastrophic.
