Heavy Rain and Flooding in Eastern Japan Leave Nine Dead, Thousands Evacuated

Torrential rain has battered eastern Japan, particularly the Chiba region, causing widespread flooding, landslides, and power outages. Public broadcaster NHK reported nine fatalities, and over a thousand homes were flooded. The Japan Meteorological Agency had issued its highest-level heavy rain warning.
