Extreme Heat Warnings and Advisories Issued Across Southern U.S., Heat Indices Up to 110°F Expected

A prolonged period of hazardous heat is affecting the southern tier of the United States, from the Desert Southwest through Texas and into the Southeast. Heat Advisories are in effect for Northern Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee, with heat indices forecast to reach triple digits, approaching 110°F. Extreme Heat Warnings are also active across portions of Arizona, Nevada, and California, where dangerously high temperatures and elevated overnight temperatures pose significant health risks. A Heat Advisory is also in effect for Saint Augustine, Florida, until 8 PM EDT on August 17.
