Met Office Issues Yellow Thunderstorm Warnings for England and Wales

Yellow warnings for thunderstorms are in effect across large parts of England and Wales for Wednesday and Thursday, August 26-27, 2026. Heavy downpours could bring 20-30mm of rain in under an hour, with some areas seeing up to 50mm over two to three hours, and potentially over 75mm in 12 hours. Forecasters warn of potential localized flooding, frequent lightning, large hail up to 2cm, strong winds, travel disruption, and power cuts.
