Avalanche Triggers Deadly Flash Floods in Nepal, Hundreds Missing

An avalanche of ice and rock triggered massive flash floods that swept through parts of Nepal on Wednesday, August 26, killing at least eight people and leaving hundreds missing. Officials reported 384 tourists, including 291 foreigners, missing. The Bhotekoshi River flooded around 9 AM Wednesday, destroying villages, roads, and hydropower projects. Warnings were issued to residents near Bhotekoshi, Trishuli, and Narayani rivers.
