Japan Meteorological Agency Issues Level 5 Emergency Heavy Rain Warning for Ishikawa and Toyama Prefectures

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has issued its highest-level emergency warning for heavy rain in parts of central Japan, specifically for municipalities in Toyama and Ishikawa prefectures. This Level 5 warning indicates that a disaster is already occurring or is highly likely to occur, with torrential rain causing flooding and increasing the risk of landslides. Approximately 180,000 residents in five municipalities have been urged to take immediate safety measures. Rainfall totals reached 211 mm in Himi and 210 mm in Hakui over six hours, with forecasts of up to 180 mm in Hokuriku and 150 mm in other regions for the next 24 hours.
