Typhoon Krovanh and Stalled Front Bring Heavy Rain and Flood Risk to Japan

Typhoon No. 24 (Krovanh) is moving northwest into the East China Sea and interacting with a stalled autumn rain front, creating unstable atmospheric conditions across a wide part of Japan. This combination is forecast to bring days of heavy rain, particularly to southern and western Japan and the Amami Islands, with concerns for flash flooding, landslides, rapidly rising rivers, and dangerous travel. The Japan Meteorological Agency has previously issued Level 5 Emergency Warnings for Heavy Rain in other prefectures.
