Météo-France Issues Orange Heatwave Alert for Southern France with Temperatures Up to 40°C

Météo-France has issued an orange heatwave alert for several departments in southern France, including Ardèche, Aude, Drôme, Gard, and Hérault, with temperatures expected to reach 39-40°C over the weekend of September 5-6, 2026. This marks only the second time France has implemented such a high level of heatwave alert in September. The heat is expected to spread north on Sunday, with northern France also experiencing warmer-than-average temperatures.
