Hurricane Lowell Threatens Hawaiian Islands with Flash Flooding, Damaging Waves, and High Winds

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is issuing advisories for Hurricane Lowell, located in the Central Pacific. Conditions are deteriorating for Niihau, Kauai, and Oahu, with flash flooding, damaging waves, and high winds expected. Maximum sustained winds are near 110 mph (175 km/h), and while gradual weakening is anticipated through Tuesday, Lowell is forecast to remain a hurricane as it passes near the Hawaiian Islands.
