Hurricane Lowell Impacts Hawaiian Islands with Hurricane Warning for Kauai and Flash Flood Risk

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is issuing advisories for Hurricane Lowell, which is forecast to pass west of Kauai today. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Kauai, Niihau, and the surrounding coastal waters, with impacts including high surf and heavy rain expected across all Hawaiian Islands. Flash flooding risk remains a concern due to Lowell. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to approximately 90 mph (150 km/h), and further weakening is anticipated.
