Persistent Heat and Heavy Rain with Flash Flood Risk Across South Central U.S., Southwest, and Central Plains

Sweltering heat continues across the South-Central Plains, Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley, and the Southwest this week, offering limited nighttime relief. Thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy rainfall, potentially leading to localized flash flooding in parts of the Desert Southwest and central Plains. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are also possible from the central Plains into the Northeast. Houston and Southeast Texas also face increased storm chances and a Level 1 of 4 flood risk due to tropical moisture.
