Extreme Heat Warnings Issued for Portions of Arizona and Southern California
The National Weather Service has issued Extreme Heat Warnings for parts of Central La Paz and Parker Valley in Arizona, and Chuckwalla Valley and Palo Verde Valley in California, with dangerously hot and humid conditions and afternoon temperatures expected between 102 to 112°F (39-44°C) until Friday, September 11. Similar warnings are in effect for coastal and inland areas of Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and San Diego counties in Southern California, with temperatures up to 115°F (46°C) in some areas. Heat-related illnesses are expected to increase significantly.
