WMO Forecasts Intensifying El Niño to Bring Extreme Weather Globally

The World Meteorological Organization warns that an intensifying El Niño is expected to peak by early 2027, leading to exceptionally warmer tropical Pacific weather. This phenomenon is projected to increase the risk of extreme weather events, including droughts and floods, across the Pacific region and globally. The UAE anticipates above-average temperatures and heavier rainfall from October 2026 to February 2027 due to this strong El Niño.
