The National Weather Service office in Blacksburg, Virginia, has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for north central North Carolina, northwest North Carolina, central Virginia, south central Virginia, southwest Virginia, and west central Virginia. Widely scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon and evening, with a few potentially producing heavy downpours leading to localized flash flooding. Damaging wind gusts capable of blowing down trees and power lines are also possible.
