Volcanic Alert Level Raised to 3 for Mount Tokachidake in Hokkaido, Japan

The Japan Meteorological Agency has raised the eruption alert level for Mount Tokachidake in Hokkaido to Level 3, prohibiting entry to the 2,077-meter mountain. Volcanic activity has intensified, raising the possibility of an eruption, with warnings of large volcanic rocks within approximately 3 kilometers of the crater. An evacuation order has been issued for the Fukiage Onsen area, and elderly residents in the Tokachidake Onsen area are advised to evacuate.
