Japan Meteorological Agency Raises Volcanic Alert to Level 3 for Mount Tokachidake

The Japan Meteorological Agency raised the eruption alert level for Mount Tokachidake in Hokkaido to Level 3 on September 12, 2026, banning entry to the 2,077-meter mountain. This is due to intensified volcanic activity and the possibility of an eruption, with warnings of large volcanic rocks within about 3 kilometers of the crater.
