US Wildfire Activity Maintains National Preparedness Level 3

The National Interagency Fire Center reports a National Preparedness Level 3 due to 57 uncontained large fires and 71 new fires across the US, with over 8.4 million acres burned this year. High fire potential is forecast for parts of the northern and central Rockies, adjacent High Plains, north California coast, Sacramento Valley, and western Texas due to dry, breezy conditions. Wildfire smoke is also impacting air quality in multiple states, posing health concerns.
