A severe cold front is sweeping across southeastern Australia, bringing unseasonal snowfall to Tasmania and causing temperatures to plunge up to 8°C below average in major cities including Melbourne, Sydney, and Hobart. Severe weather warnings for damaging winds were previously in place for parts of Victoria and New South Wales.
