NIFC Reports 96 New Wildfires, 58 Uncontained Large Fires Nationwide; Fire Weather Concerns in Southern Plains and California

The National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) reported 96 new wildfires and 58 uncontained large fires across the United States, maintaining a National Preparedness Level 3. Hot temperatures, breezy southerly winds (12-20 mph with higher gusts), and low relative humidity (20-30%) are expected to continue in the Southern Plains. Similar conditions with low relative humidity and light winds are also anticipated across much of California, contributing to ongoing fire weather concerns.
