Active Monsoon Pattern Brings Flash Flood and Storm Risk to New Mexico Through Weekend

An active monsoon pattern is expected to persist across New Mexico through the end of the week. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque forecasts rounds of showers and storms, with the western two-thirds of the state having a good chance of receiving at least a half-inch of rain through Saturday. Isolated pockets in far northwestern New Mexico could see 2 inches or more. Lesser amounts of a half-inch to an inch could still threaten flash flooding in burn scars and low-lying areas. Residents are advised to be prepared for potential flash flood warnings.
