Severe Wind Warning Issued for Tasmania, Australia, with Gusts Up to 120 km/h Expected

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging westerly winds across southern, eastern, and elevated parts of Tasmania. Damaging winds averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are expected to develop early Friday morning, September 18, in southern elevated areas and exposed southwest coastlines. Gusts exceeding 120 km/h are possible in elevated southern locations. These strong winds will extend to the Central Plateau, elevated northeast, and lower-lying eastern areas, including Hobart, by Friday afternoon. The State Emergency Service advises residents to secure outdoor items, prepare for potential power outages, and exercise caution while driving.
