Typhoon Choi-Wan Forecast to Approach Japan's Mainland
Typhoon No. 27, named Choi-wan, was located near the Mariana Islands as of 9 a.m. on Friday, moving west-southwest at 15 kilometers per hour with a central pressure of 990 hectopascals and maximum wind speeds of 82.8 km/h. The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts it to develop into a very strong typhoon by Sunday, approaching Tokyo's Ogasawara Islands with maximum wind speeds of 162 km/h by Tuesday morning, and then moving east of Japan's mainland by Wednesday.
