UK Met Office Warns Recent Rain Insufficient to Alleviate 'Serious' Drought in England

Despite recent rainfall, the UK Met Office and Environment Agency have warned that it is 'nowhere near enough' to reverse the impact of months of dry weather, leaving drought-hit areas of England in a 'serious' situation. Water supplies remain limited, and several reservoirs are 'concerningly low,' with significant and sustained wet weather needed over months to return groundwater, rivers, and reservoirs to normal levels.
