Amber Warning Issued as Storm Austen Approaches UK, Bringing Damaging Winds and Heavy Rain

The Met Office has issued an Amber wind warning for Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, and parts of West Devon, anticipating very strong winds with gusts potentially reaching 60-70 mph, and up to 80 mph in exposed areas. Heavy rain is also expected across southern areas of the UK late Thursday and into Friday. A wider Yellow warning for wind remains in place, and a Yellow rain warning has been issued for parts of southern and eastern Scotland. The storm poses a risk to life, with likely transport disruption and potential coastal gales. The RNLI advises against unnecessary risks near the coast.
