Nor'easter Brings Coastal Flood Warnings and Highway Closures to Outer Banks, North Carolina
A nor'easter offshore of the U.S. Mid-Atlantic coast continues to bring Coastal Flood Warnings to Hatteras and Ocracoke islands, with forecasts of 2-4 feet of inundation in vulnerable shoreline areas. N.C. Highway 12 remains closed between the Marc Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe due to significant ocean overwash. A High Surf Advisory is also in effect for Hatteras Island, with breaking waves of 9-12 feet expected. The National Hurricane Center classified the offshore system as a storm-force non-tropical low.
