Wildfire Smoke Continues to Affect Air Quality Across Multiple U.S. States

Wildfire smoke is currently impacting air quality in several U.S. states, prompting AirNow to advise the public to use its Fire and Smoke map for local updates. The National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) reported 11 large active fires as of October 16, contributing to the widespread smoke. This year, 64,718 fires have burned over 9 million acres, significantly exceeding the 10-year average, impacting public health and daily life.
